Rita had spent the morning in the office writing, finishing up a few pieces in time for deadlines. Like most journalists, she had a love-hate relationship with them - she hated having to force words that didn't want to come out, but love because they pushed her to, and once the deadlines were met, it left her freer than she'd been before, and opened up time for more interesting pursuits.
Not that this afternoon would likely be interesting. She was to spend the afternoon at the Ministry, dutifully listening to some minor member of the Wizengamot explain the postwar policy changes in the Goblin Liason Office. Oh, the reactions would be interesting, not least from the Goblins themselves - any time changes were made to procedure, they got all up-in-arms about their culture and their rights - but the talk itself was likely to be as boring as watching flobberworm mating rituals (the actual mating process, she remembered from her fourth year, had been grotesquely entertaining, but the lead-up as apathetic and uninteresting as everything else the creatures did).
Which was why, when Rita emerged into the lobby of the Prophet offices to head out for lunch, she was pleasantly surprised to see Gawain Robards signing himself out of the building. They'd had an interesting if brief conversation over dinner at Narcissa's party, but there had been far too many people and conversations at that table for any lengthy discourse.
She approached and waited for him to turn away from the visitor's ledger.
"Afternoon," she greeted, once he had. "Fancy seeing you here. Have you been navigating the exciting disarray of the archives?"
