It had been a very lazy day so far. Of course, it was Sunday, so perhaps that wasn’t a bad thing. After the stress of attending the Quidditch match yesterday, Hermione was relieved to have not had to be around anyone. Since she’d been doing better every day, she’d foolishly assumed it would be fine to be around a crowd of people outdoors. She’d been wrong. It had been impossible to relax being so vulnerable out in the open, and she’d eventually gone beneath the stands to watch the rest of the game. It hadn’t even been the crowd that caused the anxiety so much as that combined with being outside.
The morning had been spent revising, playing another game of Cluedo with Harry, sitting on the roof, and working with Kreacher on his reading. Now, it was after lunch, and she felt restless. She wanted to go for a walk, but she wasn’t sure if she’d make it very far before the panic hit. It was so frustrating, to have an activity she enjoyed ruined due to Greyback, and she kept trying because she refused to let that attack change every aspect of her life. It would take time, the Healer had said, but that had been about the physical healing. Did it work that way for things that were only in her mind, though?
She sighed and closed her book. She hadn’t read anything since she settled in her chair, so it wasn’t worth keeping it open. After she put the book down, she stood up and went to look out the window. It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, which was a nice change from yesterday, which had been cool again. This had been the least predictable summer in recent memory, weather-wise, which actually seemed a fitting end to a rough year.
Ron was working, and Harry was out back, but she didn’t know if he was busy or not. Maybe she’d see if he’d like to take a walk with her. If she didn’t try alone, she might actually make it past the end of the street. She went upstairs to her room and pulled on her trainers before she headed down to the kitchen. When she stepped outside, she looked for Harry.
