Angelina lifted the menu. She smiled widely at Cho. "Champagne," she said. "Pink and bubbly," she giggled. "I'm being giddy. I should be serious and focus on this, but," she leaned forward and whispered, "I'm bloody excited about it."
She glanced down at her menu and decided to go for something extravagant. Maybe the filet or the half chicken. "I never would have thought this would be a possibility, but I love my job, and there's something wonderful about having the opportunity to stay for a long time--to have a future there."
Cho agreed, "Champagne, it is then." She grinned at Angelina's enthusiasm, "You should be excited, Ang. I'm excited for you." She closed her menu after deciding upon the pasta primavera. Her stomach rumbled at the thought of the pasta dish. It was a good thing she kept an exercise regime in her weekly schedule, given her healthy appetite.
This opportunity seemed perfect for Angelina to continue doing what she loved as well as providing stability for her future. "You are definitely an asset to the Sweetshop and Harvey and Camilla have confidence in you, Ang. It's a wise business move to recognize and reward all the hard work you've put into the shop's success." She shook her head in amazement, "Partner, Ang. That's an impressive accomplishment."
"I'm still slightly shocked," Angelina admitted. "I know I work hard, and I know they appreciate me, but it was unexpected. I suppose I occasionally looked at my future and had no idea where I'd end up. Now, I feel--I feel like I have a more stable and secure future. It's a good feeling," she finished.
Cho ordered the primavera, and Angelina settled on half a roasted chicken with mash and asparagus. She eyed the dessert menu before handing it over to the waiter. They would definitely save room for something decadent.
"Thanks," Angelina said, "for all your support and your friendship. You and Lise have helped me through some difficult times, but finally, life seems to be working toward a good place. Speaking of good times, how's Mr. Cornfoot?"
Cho’s smile grew wider as Angelina talked about what this opportunity would mean for her future. "I'm happy for you, Ang. You deserve this, and now all your hard work will be for a business where you’ll now be a partner. I think it’s going to be an amazing new chapter in your life.”
After placing their orders with the waiter, they also requested a chilled bottle of champagne. She was touched when Angelina mentioned their friendship and how Lisa and Cho had been there for her when things had been difficult. “We’ve all pulled through some hard times, haven’t we? I know I consider myself fortunate to have you and Lisa in my life.” She thought back to her school days and how much things had changed. "It means a lot, knowing I have friends I can depend upon and trust with anything.”
When Angelina asked about Stephen, she found herself smiling at just the thought of him. She sighed, “Mr. Cornfoot is - he’s wonderful.” Cho laughed as she shook her head. “I’m completely gone for him, aren’t I?”
