Cho looked out into the hallway but didn’t see anyone. She had heard what sounded like a door slamming just a moment ago. That was never a good sign and it wasn’t like either Angelina or Stephen. She first checked on Ang who had heard the noise but was in the middle of baking a test batch for The Sweet Shop. Cho then went across the hall to knock on Stephen’s door.
The smile on her face faltered when Stephen opened his door. He looked terrible. She had seen much worse injuries at St. Mungo’s but she suddenly felt ill herself, seeing Stephen like this. He had a bruised and blackening eye, bloodied knuckles, and an unhappy scowl on his face. Had he been in a fight? Had he been injured at work? Her mind raced as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing.
She stepped forward, knowing those kinds of questions could wait because first she needed to make sure he was okay. She carefully reached for his bruised hand as she entered his flat. “Stephen, your injuries need attention. Will you let me take a look at them?”
