Date: October 10th 1999 Characters: Kevin Entwhistle, Parvati Patil Location: Ministry of Magic, canteen Status: Private Summary: Chance meeting between Kevin and Parvati Completion: InComplete
Parvati looked around for a spot to eat in the canteen with a huff. Why was it so bloody crowded? Scanning the crowd, she spotted an empty seat finally and headed over.
It wasn't until she sat down that she noticed Kevin was sitting next to her. "Oh, hey Kevin. How are you?"
Kevin looked at Parvati and shrugged. "There are good days and bad days. And then there are days like today.. that are neither or." he answered before biting in his sandwich again while he realised he might come off as rude.
"Sorry, I um.. I know I sound kind of rude but-um, I'm just a bit moody. Don't mind me." he told her grabbing his napkin to wipe to corners of his mouth. "How are you today? The ball's frenzy over yet at the shop?"
Moody. Well, that was interesting. Parvati stored that away for later.
"I'm well, thank you. I'm fairly certain the frenzy will be constant until Friday. It was last year, anyway. I couldn't believe how many people put things off until the last minute." She took a bite of her chicken. It was dry, but the food in the canteen usually was.
Kevin chuckled. "They can't really push it further, because we had a two week's notice anyway, right?" he asked, fairly sure he would known if it had been posted before. He was always walking around Hogsmeade.
"Either way, I am glad I went as soon as I had a day off. It's done and over with, no stress, no problems." He said, looking at Parvati. It was a bit strange, to be honest, to be talking with Padma's sister so casually.
Kevin relaxed just a little and sighed. "I imagine so. I mean, with you, Lisa and Cho.. right there that's three brilliant witches and really, if I hurt Padma I doubt she'd let you three get a go at me before she does." he said casually even though it did give him shivers.
Not because Padma was intelligent but because if he hurt her, it meant he would be causing pain to her. That she would be hurt by his actions or words and it made him sad just thinking about it.
She hummed in agreement, not really sure if that required a response. Her chicken was gone but she was still hungry. She wasn't going to eat anything, though, not when the gown she was wearing to the ball was as tight as it was.
"So, you're in what department? Sorry, I have a bad memory I think."
"I'm in the Spell Reaserch Department. Books and protocols all day long. I actually enjoy it. It's my very own dream job right there." he told her, smiling. "I don't mind if you don't remember. Maybe I just never told you in the first place." Kevin added with a chuckle. He couldn't remember having ever talked to Parvati before, but maybe Padma told her sister about him?
"Though, I should ask you the same. I don't think I know where you work around here."
"That sounds interesting. If you like the research, anyway."
She took a sip of her water. "I work in the communications department. Doing public relations sort of things. I like it alright, but I think I like working at Gladrags better."
