Judgement: Brand blows on a great horn, toppling buildings and calling the
dead from their graves.
Morgana is just peering at the card she was reaching for. "Martin, is that
Brand in your tarot card?"
There is a loud trumpeting sound from said card.
Martin breathes out, "Huh?" The shifting slows down and you are in an
aquarium. "What?"
Molly looks a little confused at suddenly steering the boat underwater. She
jumps in her seat at the trumpeting, and looks curiously back at Morgana,
then forward again with a shrug.
It is actually an aquarium because you can see people walking by in the mall
beyond. Not really a good place for Martin to have stopped shadowshifting.
But the card kind of draws your attention.
Martin picks up the card, "Huh? I don't remember having this."
Brand says, from the card, "Behold!"
Robin leans forward a bit to have a look at the card, curiously; he is also,
perhaps, a little relieved to no longer be traveling through shadow. When
a voice comes out of it, his eyes go wide and he jerks back in his seat
again.
Brand is holding a great horn, and all around him, the dead seem to be coming
from their graves. Fire falls from the sky, and the four horsemen are
dimly visible in the distance.
A starfish sticks to the glass that protects you from the water in the
aquarium and it's curious inhabitants. "Er. Uncle Brand. What were you
doing in my pocket?" Martin wonders.
Morgana wonders, "Do the cards themselves normally come to life like that? I
thought usually you spoke through them to someone else...."
Molly slows the boat, deliberately ignores the people she can see, for
sanity's sake, and turns around. "What's all this then?"
Brand says, "I have been drawn by great deeds, left unspoken!"
Morgana does spare a glance around at the the people on the other side of the
tank. She's no longer chilly so the shawl is no longer so tightly wound.
She doesn't seem to register that her toplessness might be disconcerting
for, well, anyone.
Morgana quickly decides the people-on-the-other-side-of-the-glass are just
sort of there, and looks back at the card.
Martin looks clueless. He looks at Robin for help., then looks down at Brand.
"Whose?" he shrugs at Molly, "I have no idea."
Brand says, "Someone in this boat has selflessly saved Amber!"
"I dare say, my lord, that he is certainly not speaking of /me/," Robin says,
peering at the card in wonder. "Perhaps one of you instead?"
Morgana says softly, "Oh."
Morgana just sits there with her hands folded sedately in her lap, gazing
thoughtfully at Martin's card.
Martin says, "I haven't saved Amber lately that I am aware of."
Morgana ventures, "I did. With Ula." Very quietly, as if it were completely
natural and just sort of the way of things.
Martin says, "Huh? Wow I'm popular today."
Martin says, "Yeah?"
Molly says, "Good. Because if it'd been me I didn't remember!"
Morgana nods quietly, "Well. From a tidal wave. I cannot say it would have
wiped out all of Amber. But I'm sure it would not have helped."
Martin says, "Addison... I don't have any vacuum cleaners for sale today, but
would you mind coming through or calling back later? I have a bit of a
situation."
Robin's gaze goes to Morgana, at that, his expression surprised. "Indeed, my
lady? I should think that such a deed ought not to go so uncredited as it
would seem to have."
Martin says, simply. "Brand is talking to us."
Addison appears suddenly, grasping Martin's hand.
Addison has arrived.
Brand blows his trumpet, quite loudly. Some people in the mall outside seem to
notice, and look towards the aquarium.
Molly blinks once. Twice. Then says to Morgana, "Thank you? a tidal wave would
have been quite, quite bad."
Addison steps through the trump contact with Martin wearing the best and most
fashionable of Rebman wear, which is, not a whole heck of a lot, and he
looks sort of confused to not be under water any more.
Morgana says, "I suppose it would be good to note that members of the Rebma
Embassy acted to save Amber. But it was done quietly; we did not expect
thanks. We were simply intend on ending the threat....." She looks over at
the trumpet-blowing.
You are on a makeshift submarine. A Motorboat with a big glass exterior that
protects you from the water around you. Unfortunately, the boat must have
stopped in the wrong place because you appear to be in an aquarium... in a
mall. And people have noticed.
Martin is manning the control panel in the back, Molly is at the wheel,
Morgana and Robin are passengers.
Brand declares, "Let Morgana of Rebma, priestess of Lir be praised for her
deeds!" He blows the trumpet again.
Addison just looks confused and says, under his breath, "Bloody hell Martin..."
Martin points at the card.
Martin says, "I was shadowshifting, we were in deep shadow, and he fell out of
my pocket."
Martin says, "It's not my fault."
Morgana finally ventures to Molly, "You're welcome. Oh, hello, Addison." She
has a shawl, but it's not covering much up. Nor is her necklace. Her skirt
is, but that's not helping at all above the waist."
Robin says, seeming quite sincere, "Permit me to offer my thanks, my lady. We,
and the whole of the city, are much in your debt for sparing us yet
further devastation."
Addison pads across the floor of the tiny little yellow submarine and peers at
the card. "Oh yes. Well. He's everywhere. Sort of like Nigel." He glances
over at Morgana, and he'd be fine in Rebma, but once he is out of the
water he realizes he is wearing nearly nothing himself and blushes from
the top of his hairline down.
Martin seems to have been jogged out of confusion by Robin's words he grins at
Morgana, "Of course, whatever you did must have been pretty amazing!" he
enthuses.
Morgana notes, "Ula deserves the thanks as much as I... I'm sure it's no more
than anyone else would have done in our place, had they the power to turn
a tidal wave."
"Assuredly willingness counts for something, my lady," Robin says, "and yet
without ability to go along with it, the Lower City should even now be in
far worse condition."
Addison sounds a little confused. "Er, can I get a one sentence on who and
what we are praising? Lady Morgana, yes? Quickly?"
Molly says, "Lady Morgana saved Amber from a horrible tidal wave. Huzzah!"
Brand says, "Indeed! Lady Morgana stopped a tidal wave headed for Amber!
Praise her!"
Morgana explains to Addison, "Prince Brand is talking to us through this
card," she gestures at it, "And... yes. With Ula," she adds again.
People in the mall are now pointing at the neat "Sea Monkeys".
Brand blows a long, loud note on his horn.
Addison's eyebrows go up and says, "Oh really? I had no idea? Why, that's
amazing, isn't it. I didn't even know. Well, then, yes, of course. Thank
you for not letting us be utterly destroyed by a tidal wave and us not
even knowing it."
Brand says, "And praise Ula as well!"
Brand make more noise.
"...You're welcome, of course," Morgana answers Addison, then nods at the
card. "Yes, and Ula. Though I do not know she would thank me for drawing
attention to her efforts."
Addison says brightly, "Oh yes, then. Praise be to Lady Ula Ygrayne then, too!"
Morgana looks as if she isn't entirely sure she wants to thank Brand-in-the-
card for doing so, either.
Martin nods, "My cousin is full of surprises but I always knew that she would
one day be a word to say loud and clear with Hurrah!" he claps Morgana on
the back, gently.
Robin says, "Lady Ula is a modest and gracious lady, and no doubt would no
more wish to be seen as boastful than do you, my lady. Nonetheless, praise
ought always to be given where it is warranted."
Morgana is a lot lighter than Martin, and getting clapped on the back does
interesting things to her balance, and to be blunt, her exposed breasts. A
sigh. "Thank you, Martin."
Brand begins to fade away. He blows the horn again, but that sound too fades.
Martin nods, "She is indeed, Ula is." to Robin.
Molly says, "And a Huzzah to Lady Ula, as well." She glances behind her and
immediately regrets it, scrunching her shoulders down against the staring
mall-people and trying hard to keep ignoring them."
Addison starts to look immensely sad for a moment as Brand fades with his horn
and then hides it again.
Martin puts a hand on Addison's shoulder, comforting.
Morgana ventures, "Perhaps we might continue on with our journey?"
Brand vanishes, and the card returns to whatever it used to be.
