After leaving the Halloween party - and making sure that Jim saw her leaving - Tina went straight back to her quarters, where the first thing she did was take off her heels. They were beautiful shoes, but not terribly comfortable, and she'd been on her feet quite a lot.
She considered changing out of her dress, too, but decided that it might be more fun to wait for help with that particular task. Instead, she moved around the room, tidying up and putting things away. She changed the sheets on the bed and made it up nicely. She brushed her teeth.
And then she curled up on her bed planning to read for a while. Between the modern romance she'd been half-enjoying, an issue of Applied Terran Bioresearch and Medical Science and her dog-eared old copy of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen, continuing her latest re-read of Pride and Prejudice was the winning option.
There was something a little bit hilarious about reading a book in which marriage was the only possible happy ending whilst waiting for a man to stop by for some casual sex, she thought. Austen might have appreciated the humor in the situation, too.
