Tina altered the shift assignments again as she came into sickbay, her recalcitrant patient in tow. There was no reason why one of her overworked nurses should have to come in for the next shift if she was going to be there anyway, which it seemed she was. Perhaps she should consider just moving in. But that thought led to thinking about McCoy's

"More than you know," he told her, not sure what was compelling him to be so open about this.

She'd been right, the smaller, warm body next to him relaxed him in a way he hadn't expected and it made him wonder a lot of things about himself, about what was going on in his head, about what it would be like if Kirk hadn't come back... how would he have managed to go on, if just a few days away brought him to his knees...

Speaking of knees. "Keep off for a while," he repeated, standing and heading away from the bed. "You could probably just take off, go back to your room if you wanted."
