If there was one thing Roger hated, it was shopping. The crowds didn't actually bother him and it was fine if he had a list. Getting in, getting what you wanted, and getting out: that was his go to shopping tactic. He'd have absolutely loved to do that this time, but his sister was a brat ( Read more... )

Cecilia jolted forward, her ankles wobbling slightly by the bump. She straightened herself, spreading out her skirt with the flat of her hands as she turned around to face the culprit. The voice had been deep and decidedly not the type to be in the same shop as handbags, hats and the various other things she figured most straight men didn't want any part of. "Well, if that were the case, you'd be planning something to make it up to me."

"Because that would be just a wretched thing to go to a girl you've just met."

"It would be," Roger agreed with a short nod.

This was actually pretty refreshing. Normally, the girls Roger met were either bland and gorgeous or plain and interesting. Attractiveness and interesting didn't tend to mix in his experience. So far, however, this one seemed different.

"How would I have gone about actually making something like that up to you? Even I'm not that creative and that's saying something." Okay, he talked a big game; it couldn't be helped.
