Flashback: About your sister...

Roger was finally starting to feel like he could breathe again. It was only in fits and starts, coming along in waves. He'd had a lot of sleepless nights, even though Maeve didn't leave Lily alone with him very often. That probably had something to do with his stress level. It had been a long day at work, but that wasn't anything new. Alex wasn't exactly a big fan of his job but he hadn't figured out what he did want to do. That left him still living in his parents' basement, working a dead end job, with no girlfriend to speak of.

it was a pretty sad existence but he figured he still had plenty of time to figure all of that out. Once they figured out this whole war restoration there would be plenty of jobs opening up.

When the knock came to the door, Alex pulled himself off the sofa and placed his beer back down on the coffee table.

"Oh. Roger-" he said, surprised to actually see him in the neighborhood. "Do you eh- need something?"

Well, he couldn't possibly be here for Lavender.

He should have expected that reaction. Roger had gotten worse and worse at actually keeping up with anyone as time went on. With the war happening and shutting everything mostly down, Roger had been around even less than he had when Quidditch was the most difficult thing he had to deal with.

"Uh, no?" Roger's lips twisted a little and he bounced slightly on his toes. "Figured I hadn't seen you in a while. You were home. I'm at Mum's. Do I need a reason?"

Things between the two of them had been tense, at best. Though, it was hard to actually gauge what was going on in their friendship with Roger off becoming some hot shot Quidditch star.

It didn't bother him quite so much if it didn't completely screw over his little sister.

"Nope. Guess not-" he said, stepping aside to let Roger inside.

"I just want expecting you."

"Yeah, sorry about that." He felt tense and a little hot, embarrassed. Too many things had been slipping away from him recently, all things that Roger would have liked to have held on to more.

Slipping into the house, Roger shrugged and shoved his hands into his pockets. "I should have owled or something? I mean... " He jerked a hand over his shoulder toward the door that was closing behind him. "I can go if you want me to?"
