Closed: Valentine's Day; Lavender

Roger had left practice to set things up. Everyone knew he was a fan of gestures and doing things in a big way that were still intimate. It was an inherent part of his personality at this point. There was no way he wasn't going to utilize it with Lavender. After all, this was their first Valentine's Day since they got back together and the first as ( Read more... )

The morning had completely dragged on and Lavender did her best to pass the time in the editing room, going through her hundred of photographs from the last game for the portfolio. Though, it wasn't the best idea to pass the time considering every time she came across one of Roger's pictures she'd drift off for a little bit, admiring how natural he was on his broom, how intense he looked in the middle of a match, and how incredibly sexy it all was. It also didn't help that there were themed baked goods floating around the office- heart shaped sugar cookies, red velvet cupcakes, and boxes of truffles for everyone to share and enjoy. Literally everything screamed Valentines Day and Lavender couldn't be happier about it ( ... )

Roger had been ridiculously early. He wouldn't say he was nervous just anxious. Maybe it should be difficult for things to be fun and exciting after they had known each other for so long. This was their history, though, so it made Roger a little ridiculous. Also, he'd never stopped being completely head over heels for Lavender.

So he'd been a little fidgety. He could have gone inside his mother's house, but then he'd have just wandered aimlessly. He probably wouldn't have ended up halfway destroying Gesture Part One, though, so it could go either way.

"Happy Valentine's Day," he grinned. "Thank you." Roger took the warm cup from her with one hand, the other staying behind his back, and leaned in to press a slow kiss to her lips even though his were a little chapped and chilled from the wind.

"So..." He started, pulling back to grin a little crooked and awkward. Without looking away from her he pulled a sad looking, bright bouquet from behind his back. Half the flowers were broken and/or bent.

It was clear that he had been out there for a while, probably just as anxious as she had been all morning. The two of them had never been very good with carrying out the plan of waiting, rushing into every decision, big or little, which hyped up any surprises and planning they actually took the time do. There was no doubt in her mind now that he'd been here much longer than he had to be, pacing between the two yards.

"I hope you got a good deal on those flowers-" she teased lightly, reaching out for the crushed bouquet as a wide smile pulled at her lips.

The flowers may not have been perfect but they didn't need to be. Here was Roger looking adorable and sexy, looking almost nervous, with that boyish look on his face and it brought her right back to the summer they started dating when everything was fresh and new and nothing hurt. It was perfect.

"Tremendously overpriced," he told her, solemn. His teeth caught his lip as he grinned, wide and bright. "Though they were a lot less ... wilty before they had a run in with the other part of your surprise."

Roger didn't want to admit he'd gotten clumsy with excitement. He was a professional quidditch player for Merlin's sake. There had been a bit of a battle over him when his Bats contract ran out. His reflexes were his livelihood.

But then he was trying to set up a surprise for Lavender and everything went out the window like he was 16 and fumbling with everything again just because she looked at him with those bright eyes and that coy smile.
