For those asking O NOES HOW DO I BACKUP MY LIVEJOURNAL?!

If you use Windows, I point you to ljarchive. Quick, neat, and comprehensive, as shoebox2 and others who've used it can attest. Also lets you find out interesting things about which words (barring the very common ones) you use most frequently, and things like that.

If you're on a Mac or have some other platform, however, I can't help you. Sorry.

Here is a way to do it on a Mac:

Easiest if you have a certain amount of technical skill but should be comprehensible to anyone who's moderately determined.

And this script works on Linux, too.

Thank you for that. I have, of course, saved all my longer essays and stories on my hard drive before posting them. For things I might want to save/share and haven't already stored on my hard drive, I thought of this:

Copy and paste each item into word processor of your choice.

Go to this excellent website and download dropbox.

www.getdropbox.com

Drop your items into your dropbox.

That's a very clunky method, and it obviously won't save comments, etc, unless you save them manually. I was hoping there would be a one-click method, but, alas, to no avail. But Dropbox is simply the coolest thing on earth. (IMHO)

Sorry - that was me- mary_j_59 January 7 2009, 20:13:30 UTC
I forgot to log in! I *was* hoping for a more one-click type method, that's all. I guess it doesn't exist except for those on the dark side (evil grin).
