I am immensely intrigued, and can't wait. Better than being horrified, anyway, which is what I often felt during the rumor-mongering. Someone actually suggested David Thewlis the other day, and I wanted to barf. :P

I was kinda hoping for a return to a somewhat older Doctor (though I admit the Paterson Joseph rumors had me really intrigued) but am withholding judgment until I can see for myself.

THAT is what was weirding me out! Thank you for putting your finger on it.

Mind you, Davison didn't have eyebrows either. But he was fair-haired so it made sense, whereas with Smith... it's just odd.

I'm still not sure about the casting, but I'm rarely sure about a new Doctor. I was a bit thrown by the actor's age (this is the first Doctor that will be younger than me), and avarill and I spent a good few minutes laughing in surprise over it.

But hey, I'll give him a chance. And this is by far the most 'Doctorish' looking photo I've seen of the actor yet, so, who knows?
