I still feel pretty much entirely made of fail as far as my writing is concerned, but I remind myself that I go through this phase on a regular basis, and that if I give myself another day or two I will be back on a more even keel again. Not delusional enough to think my very first-drafty book is the Best Thing Ever, but enough that I can bear to ( Read more... )

*takes note of the books*

I adore historical fiction, and I'm always looking for something new and good to read.

Thank you!

I hope things start to look better with your writing too. Publishing houses tend to cycle through themes, so the best tip I can give you is to look at the 'New Fiction' shelves at one of any number of large chains, and see what seems to be selling - better promoted, that sort of thing.

I'm not sure if that helps, but it might give you some ideas.

Hold at the library placed.

The Winter Prince has some themes of incest -- necessarily so given a character like Morgause and the origins of Mordred/Medraut, but Wein also goes on to show how that kind of thing can really mess up the next generation psychologically -- realistically so, I think, but anyway the allusions are there.

There are also some pretty brutal (physical, non-sexual) things that happen to characters later on in the books, but they're carefully handled. And they're being marketed to a young YA audience, so my short answer would be yes. Anyone who's enjoyed the Attolia books will enjoy these, I think.

Oh, I know. I had to wait so long for our library to finish processing The Empty Kingdom, but it finally came through and I read it and it was fabulous. I actually had come across her on LJ before I'd heard of any of her books, so I sought them out and am so glad I did. Now I'm pushing them on as many people as possible.
