Could one of my brilliant librarian friends tell me what the Daily Telegraph (UK) headline was for October 7, 1983? I'm pretty sure it was the hijacking of the Achille Lauro, but I'm looking for the exact wording, and I can't seem to find the information online.

ETA: Never mind. I've just cut that paragraph from the final revision anyway.

questions, research

You have to ask two days after I have a meeting at the British Library...

Not offhand; I don't have access to any of the right databases. But I could do it with the Times if that's of any help...

According to my sources, including two news databases and Wikipedia, nothing happened on 07/10/1983. In fact, that date may never have existed, possibly due to being sucked into some form of time vortex. Not even the BBC has any record of its existence.

(The hijacking of the Achille Lauro was 1985.)

However, some information from that period: on October 2, 1983, the Labour Party had a change in leadership.

Ah, here we are. 07/10/1983 did exist -- outside of England, anyway! The Police were in the German leg of their Syncronicity Tour. Neil Young played in Illinois. Dwayne Bravo, future West Indies cricket player, was born. German composer Werner Egk died.
