At 8 a.m. on Friday, July 30, avarill, lydaclunas and I jumped into our minivan and hit the road for Ottawa.

Among other things, we discussed HP casting and how amusing it was that both Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson had now appeared in the films, and whether in some strange way that made Lockhart/Trelawney canonical after all.

I too have found this coincidence endlessly amusing.

I think I need to read "Things to Come" again. ;)

Sounds like so much fun! *sighs* Wish I could have come!

I am so pleased to finally hear about all this - but you've made me younger than I should be. 62 not 63 please!

Very cool shirts.

Have to say I should really love to see Branagh and Thompson act out "Things to Come" although it will certainly have to be in my dreams.

Speaking of dreams, I had one last night in which you arrived home from CA to some combination of your house and an office, in which there were large numbers of people all gathering to shout greetings to you. I expect the real homecoming was not quite so noisy.

Heh. You need to blame yahtzee63. I always get her last digit and yours mixed up...

And wouldn't that be amazing -- Branagh and Thompson, I mean? So. Much. Fun. Except, we'd never get them to do it now, I'm sure, no matter how much we offered to pay them. Alas.

I am highly amused by the dream. No, we actually came home to a quiet house reeking of paint thinner, because Simon was in bed and H. was downstairs cleaning out the laundry room sink. He was terribly industrious in my absence -- I ought to go away more often. :)

A few months ago, sit_good_dog wrote me a nifty little Trelawney/Lockhart bit - it was quite cute and I should go and find it now...

Well to the extent that it is canonical, it's a sunk ship (given the divorce and everything) ... If you're a cross-over fan, it would however make Trelawney/Willoughby canon (and man, the strange plot bunnies that just popped up over that one!).

That's a shame about the t-shirts! In the future, try washing the shirts in vinegar the first time through (obviously then wash again to get rid of the vinegar). It helps to set the ink.

The designs are fantastic. And I think lydaclunas must have been thrilled with the Beta shirt -- who wouldn't be?

Oh, I was more thrilled than one can imagine; thanks for the tip about vinegar. Mine is the only one that hasn't been washed yet, so I'll be sure to try that first. :)
