I really, really feel like writing another scene of my Margot Snape fic (funny how I keep calling it that when Malcolm is the POV character, but, well, that's Margot for you), and I can't because the kids are keeping me too busy

I have to agree with you about the Alias episode. I'm not really too happy with the changes. I really don't like that they killed off a character we cared about somewhat, I don't like that now we have to screen each show to avoid major sex scenes, and I REALLY don't like the whole "bad-girl evilly watching said major sex scene" scenario. Now that's squicky! Oh, well, I guess I'm not in anyone's target market and in a few years there won't be a single program on TV I can watch. Don't get me started on Enterprise's episode last night!

You mean it was even stupider and had more gratuitous underwear shots than usual?
I gave up on ENT about three weeks ago. I'd given it a whole year and a half to become something more than mediocre (at best), and it never did. Too bad, because when I saw the pilot episode, I'd thought the idea had real potential... and last season's cliffhanger actually made me think the execution might eventually live up to it.
The Nap Fairy is capricious, alas. Today my toddler has fallen asleep in the afternoon (which is almost unheard-of these days) but the baby refused to nap more than half an hour...
Glad to see you've recovered from previous despondency. I'm a bit confused, though, because what you flushed may have started out on the subject of fanfic, but it was no more *about* fanfic than (say) the Parable of the Talents is *about* savings plans; it was dealing with some very important and thought-provoking issues such as human relationships and intellectual honesty; and this was why, IMHO, it was generating quite so many comments.
You have my admiration, though, that energy and impulse apart, you even have the desire to write; my own sprogs drained me so completely in every direction that the younger was 5 before I even wanted to write.
I had composed a thoughtful reply to this and then my toddler came along and deleted it with one ill-timed poke at the keyboard, which may either have Meant Something or was just pure bad luck, depending on how one may be inclined.
Anyway, thanks for your remarks. I would have been in favor of continuing the discussion along the lines you mentioned, except I couldn't see a way to separate that from the confusion and misunderstandings, and in the end it seemed to me more prudent to just shut the thread down. I enjoy a lively debate, but not when it gets personal and starts to generate hurt feelings. Still, perhaps we can discuss these things more fruitfully another time, or in a different context...

Funny how that works, happens to me all the time. However, I am hoping the Nap Fairy smiles on you as some more Margot would be very nice indeed. :)
