Luxord eyed the empty counter, proudly displaying an 'Open' sign but very definitely unoccupied. It was very possible that the woman would, as she had claimed as she bustled past him, be right back, but that had been fifteen minutes ago and it was probably not the case. If this had not been the only open photo developer, or if his article had not been due at an obscene hour that night, he would not have bothered at all. As it was, his patience was beginning to wear - not much, for he did possess a great deal of it, but some.

Another man was approaching the counter. Poor bugger didn't know what he was in for.

What little hope Xigbar had left began to slip away at the sight of one disgruntled man standing nearby and no one behind the counter. He contemplated just leaving now. He had tried, at least. Stupid photos could wait until tomorrow. But then again, there was always the chance that the department employee had just...gone to the bathroom or something. What the hell.

"Any luck?" he asked the blond man cheerfully, sounding much more pleased than he felt as he set the disposable camera down on an empty part of the counter. Ha, now he wouldn't have to hold it anymore. It no longer had any association with him. Damn straight. ...Why was he thinking so hard about a stupid camera. Ugh.

The irony of the man's statement did not escape Luxord. "Not this time," he replied. "She says she'll be back, but as for when this will transpire, I haven't the foggiest." He leaned against the counter and studied the newcomer for lack of anything more interesting. The man's eyepatch was particularly impressive in conjuncture with the various scars on his face, which positively screamed 'story'. It was a shame, Luxord reflected, that there was no particular reason to interview this man.

Of course, he could just ask his life's story anyway, out of pure, unadulterated interest.

"What have you been photographing?" Luxord decided to start with, nodding at the small disposable camera that had been set so decisively upon the counter.

Xigbar let out a loud sigh at the news of the photo woman's disappearance. Ah, well. At least he got out of his apartment to enjoy the fresh air. Psh, right. The air of a bunch of unwashed slobs going to some cheap grocery store, more like it. He should've just waited until later in the week.

Xigbar nearly jumped in surprise as his inner monologue of complaints was interrupted. Oh yeah, that other guy was still here. He glanced over his shoulder at him, determining if it was worth the trouble. And as he inspected the slight blond, with his peculiar speech and piercings, he came upon the conclusion that yes, this would be worth the trouble.

"Who's asking?" he drawled, gracing the other man with a lazy smirk.
