How had this happened?

Oh yeah. Sam was dragging him. Again. To a new club. He didn't think it was a Goth club this time around, but she was still dragging him. Probably because she'd be going against The Man if she did.

"Uh, Sam? You sure we should be going he--!" he couldn't finish his sentence, because Sam tugged at his arm harder, dragging him closer to her as she headed down the street. She had even gotten Danny dressed up in a full get-up. He was wearing black jeans laced with chains everywhere, a leather punk jacket, and various spiked chokers and bracelets. Oh yeah, and Sam-patented combat boots.

He hoped there was good music at least. He missed listening to his favorite bands (not like these were his favorites, but they came close). Maybe he'd be able to listen to some more and even get money for it if he offered to advertise.

Allen leaned on the edge of the bar. Why oh why did I have to take the late shift tonight. All the boss told me was he would pay double and nothing else If I knew it would be this busy, I never would have taken it. As if to prove his point, another large and loud (you could hear them over the music) group barged in through the door and stumbled half drunkenly towards the bar.

After serving them Allen went to lean again on the bar before realising there were still others to serve at the other end of the bar. With a great sigh Allen shuffled towards the customers. “What can I get you?”, he asked, trying his hardest to smile.

"Glass of sake," Shizuka replied, feeling oddly irritated. But that was acceptable, perhaps; he'd just gone another session without finding a job. The first bar he'd come to, he'd stopped at, ignoring the music blaring in his ears. For that matter, he was feeling slightly rebellious anyways. It was a ridiculous way to feel, and a dangerous one, but he figured in such a packed place he could easily slip out if the need came.

For that matter, there might be a job opportunity here.

He turned his attention to the bartender, who was looking distinctly uncomfortable. "How much?" he added.

“Uhh”, Allen shook his head, realising he had started to space out a little. “600 yen please”, he answered, reaching for a glass under the bar and filling it with sake. Allen handed the glass of sake to the customer, who seemed in quite a bad mood, and held out his glove covered burnt hand for the money.

He looked round to see if there was anyone else waiting to be served. No. Knowing that if he was left unoccupied for too long he would do something stupid like fall asleep and get fired, he turned back to the other and said, “Come here often?”, with a genuine pleasant smile.

Shizuka handed over the requested amount, trying not to scowl too much. It wasn't this guy's fault he couldn't get a job. It wasn't his business, really, either. So there was no point acting as if it was.

"Not often," he replied to the bartender's question. "I haven't been here before." The man was smiling at him like the conversation was meaningful or exciting. Not for the first time, Shizuka wondered if bartending was all that rewarding of a business. Then again, it did pay well...

((OOC: Silly me, I had my calendar set to July and thought Wednesday was the eleventh...))

Wow, what a sour-pus, Allen thought to himself but a conversation with him is better than falling asleep. “Well… ermm… if you are new here then you should be very careful when you leave. You don’t want to get arrested.”

Allen always managed to bring up this topic, whenever trying to keep himself occupied but wasn’t sure whether the other cared or was even listening.

"Right," Shizuka replied. The bartender seemed to be expecting more of an answer, so he added, "Is it a common thing?" It had been a consideration of his, but he didn't really mind. He was more concerned with the fact that he'd had to pay to get in as well as for the drink. "Some clubs bribe the police," he continued.

“I probably shouldn’t be telling you this but we aren’t bribing them, yet. If we end up getting caught then it will be taken into consideration but basically it is cheaper to not bribe the--”. Allen stopped abruptly looking slightly worried. He had already said it before the possibility of this man working for the police crossed his mind. “Well...uh… anyway I better get back to work. There are… some…things I need to get done”.

Allen hurried to the sink at the other side of the bar and started to clean a glass, oblivious to the fact he had a working dishwasher next to him.

Shizuka tactfully refrained from commenting on the presence of a dishwasher and turned his attention back to the long-neglected sake. Obviously there was a reason for the sudden concern of the bartender, but he was better off not knowing about it. In situations like these, ignorance was much safer.

Actually, he probably should leave sometime soon anyways, but he wasn't looking forward to going back to his apartment or job hunting. Suddenly, struck by inspiration, he turned back to the bartender. "How did you get this job?" he asked.

Edward found himself walking into a bar, looking around as the loud music pounded in his ears. He grimaced because loud music wasn't his thing, but he could use a beer after the kind of day he had.

He walked up to the counter and leaned against it, his pristine white gloves a contrast to the beat up bar. He waited for someone to come take his order, it was a good thing he was fairly patient about these things.

Allen finished fixing up the cut on his burnt hand and pulled a spare white glove from his pocket as his other one had been bloodied. He took a quick glance at the bar and saw no one but after closer inspection, he noticed what seemed to be a young boy leant against the bar. He was about the size of a boy though his looked quite mature. Strolling over to the boy, Allen leant over the bar to get a better look of him and asked, “Excuse me but do you have any proof of age?”, with a nice smile. “Because under eighteens are not permitted here.”

He frowned at the bartender and crossed his arms across his chest, eyes narrowing.

"Do I look under eighteen?" Ed grated out, inwardly seething. How dare this guy imply he was underaged. Like he would have come in underage.

Allen’s face dropped, he was being so nice and now he was getting yelled at! “I am sorry but is our policy to ask for proof of age when someone looks under 21”, he said smoothly but he took a step back as the stranger looked as if he wanted to jump at Allen and gauge his eyes out.
