Ohhh... I was totally intrigued by the art prompt when it came up, but you went and RAN with it. Lovely subversion of the Winchesters' family dynamic, they're so evil even though they're really not and I liked the in-medias-res with the backstory unfolding along the way, just a sprinkle here and there where we needed it. Great stuff!
When I was able to nab this artwork during claims, I was the happiest fangirl in the world. Bas is such a joy to work with and so inspirational. It's great to hear that I did it justice! You're right--they're evil except in all the ways that they're not, and I'm so glad to know that the backstory didn't read as an info-dump. It's a fine line, you know? Thanks so much for reading and for the kind feedback!
What a great story! I remember how chilling the art was during reveals, and your story is a perfect complement. The OCs were interesting and I loved how Dean and Sam became a little more aware with each awakening until they were able to gain the upper hand.
!!! So so happy to hear that this is a good companion to the artwork. Bas is just great, and so much of her work is incredibly inspirational! Writing in all the little ways that they were more self-aware each time was a lot of fun, and I'm glad you picked up on that. Thanks a million for such lovely feedback!
hmm,mm,mmmm... feel like a cat that's got her canary and bowlful of cream...deeply satisfied. Not really a wincest fan but in the context of this story it works deliciously, debaunched and violent without a whiff of gratuity. Almost feel sorry for Hawthorne, almost.
Thanks so much for giving this story a try, even if it isn't your sort of thing. Grinning over here that you almost feel sorry for the bad guy--it lets me know that I've done my job. Again, many thanks!
