My Nano Word Count Post

This is a sticky, self updating, word count post. If you ever want to know how I am doing, this is where you will be able to find a semi-current figure. It doesn't update immediately after I do, I have noticed, but it does eventually.

Yay for competition! It's fun. And I have to work hard now, cause I blew all the extra words I wrote last week by not writing this weekend. It was fun, but I liked seeing the green bars and I hate the red ones, even if I know I'm still on track. O, and I hate it when it' gets to be like 12:15 and I realize I haven't updated my word count and the last 500 words I wanted to count for one day are instead going to count for the rest. The analytical part of me gets bothered by that.

I totally get that. Oh, and btw, did you see the write or die thing that I posted about? It has really helped me the past few days. Especially over the weekend. I can crank out a thousand words in just over half an hour, and last night I got 2450 in just over an hour. It makes me feel good.

I haven't tried that. I've was doing some word wars on the NaNo boards. With 30 minute word war I can do about 1.2k to 1.5k. But I have spend a few minutes beforehand doing a mini-mental outline and I still end up writing out a lot of random stuff that my MC is thinking as I try to figure out what happens next. I just end up with more filler when I put myself on that strict of a timeline. And I'm trying to get to at least close to the end of the story by November, but I'm only to the begining of chapter 4, so I need to stop writing filler and get on with the plot already!

I find that it's really not that hard to write about 20000 words in about an hour and a half to two hours even when I have no clue what happens next and have to brainstorm a little. And those 2000 words seem like they're more likely to not get edited out in December.
