On the Dance Floor

I wrote this in response to kelkyag's prompt of "Mayin."

“Oh my,” muttered Ley to her husband Edan as they watched his older sister, Mayin, being guided around the dance floor by the man with a cybernetic hand and eye and wearing the foreign military uniform, “physical competence is very attractive, isn’t it?”

“You think he looks attractive?” Edan looked

Did Jan-li know that Mayin knew the Admiral's name and rank? I suppose her not paying enough attention to the news to know was unlikely.

Dear Admiral: are you actually expecting an answer much different than "I haven't decided yet"?

I think she knows the name and rank that go with the face from during the war. After all, she calls him 'Admiral' and not 'Ambassador'.

The Admiral is using Jan-li's military title, too, so that seems fair. (I'm assuming there's an appropriate civilian mode of address, but I don't think it has come up?) And now I wonder why they're not using Mayin's military rank ... though she at least nominally has a civilian life now.

Jan-li is still in uniform, the Ambassador isn't.

And they are avoiding her military rank partly because I haven't decided what it was. :)

He found her by researching her. She may have accepted that it's a thing that he does.
