Grandma's changed tack on what to pick on. Old tartar that she is. Maddalena is going to be in the wrong about this somehow, no matter what.

Ah, yes, let us run them out. After all, there's no benefit to be gained from good will and certainly nothing to be lost by showing the house as divided. Not to worry Maddalena, you're making deposits int he karma bank.

I could pretty quickly picture the scene in my head. Maybe not scenery, but the certainly the attitudes. I rather like this one.

Grandmother isn't running anyone out and she knows it :)
That's why the change of tack to 'you wore that old thing in front of the important visitors!'.
She can seeing reasons to vent spleen on Maddalena just slipping away...
