Deathly Hallows Pt 2

I didn’t plan on seeing Harry Potter today, but my mother called me at 3pm and told me to get dressed in real people clothes b/c we were going to see the movie starting at 4. I don’t argue with my mother when she gets that tone in her voice. Below are my sort of spacey thoughts on it all. Spoilers, obviously. And yes, I did sob like a baby, but I’m ( Read more... )

The first time I saw it I pretty much cried every time Maggie Smith was on screen, JFC. From her stepping between Snape and Harry up to the end of Snape's memories the first time I was pretty much crying or getting over crying. *facepalm* The second time I only teared up at the Snape vs. McGonagall duel and when she spells the statues and Fred. D: I do get quite emotional whenever they destroy part of Hogwarts though. But that was expected, because I know how I get attached to inanimate objects (see: the Battlestar Galactica).

God, Maggie Smith. I just adore her so much. One of the all time greats there.

BI was expecting to cry a little bit, but not near as much as I did. It pretty much was non-stop tears for me from the Snape vs McGonagall duel as well. I am very happy to know I, and my equally sappy mother, weren't the only ones to spend a good deal of the first watch crying.

I think everyone's attatched to Hogwarts, b/c come on, it's a magical castle and for the better part of 6 books and films, it was home. We've been there, discovering its secrets, learning its magic, going through childhood again etc etc, and to see it just beseiged and laid waste? I don't know how anyone can't be moved by that. But then again I am also one of those people who form attatchments to places/things.

Haha same here, I did NOT expect to cry as much as I did. The first time with Fred and the Weasley family I was actually sobbing. :x I think it - and getting upset when the castle was damaged - was unexpected to me more because of the fact that I didn't think myself as invested as I am? I mean, I am not invested like people who it is their bread and butter fandom, but I am apparently more invested than even I suspected!

(I AM also very susceptible to drama, theatrics and sweeping scores, however, and this movie had a LOT "" of that to give me.)

Word. Like, seriously, this isn't even my fandom. I'm not even all that "fannish" about it, and the only time I was invovled was like, 6 years ago with Remus/Sirius and like SBP love. So I never expected to be out and out sobbing. It was really one of those moments where I just had to go "Huh, I guess this does mean a lot more to me/I over-identify with the themes than I ever thought" after I watched the movie.

I am quite happy to know that Molly got her line. One of my friends said she would walk out if that was cut, because it is the greatest line for her from the series. I also adore that line. The first time I read it in the book, I paused and then laughed/cheered so hard. Because, honestly, that's exactly what she would say in that situation. I freaked out Ian, since we were reading the last book at the same time, but I finished it about two days before him (I had read in one sitting).
So, am I correct to think that Snape didn't get everything cut out in his scene. If its good and complete, then I may actually go see it, but I stopped the films after Phoenix. I really only want to see it for Snape and Lupin (but I hear he's so screwed up from the previous one, that he's pretty different in the films).

Everyone in the theater cheered when Molly said her line. I'm like you, when I read that line in the book the first time, I responded with a "Hell Yeah!" out loud ( ... )
