Because if I'm going to spam while taking breaks from packing, I'm going to do it all historical like. Mostly for my own notes, since god knows when I'll get to the unpacking, but everyone feel free to read.

After both a BA and MA in history, trust me, I take great enjoyment in researching something because I want to, not because I have to. Plus, all this really does help me get my skills back up after a year of working in cubicle-wasteland. I'm just glad other people might get help out of it. I hate going into a historical-based fandom and just having no idea where to GO for information. At least this might be a semi-launcing pad.
Eventually I'll get around to this for Sledge's works too, but it's hard b/c he doesn't really name anyone in China Marine.

i really really wanted to pick up a 2nd major in history where i'm studying now, but my current program is just so intensive already that i couldn't do it even if i really really wanted to. :( i'm not even sure if i'll be able to walk out of here with a minor in creative writing haha BUT NOT FOR LACK OF TRYING.
i used to be all about modern international relations/foreign policies in high school--but that was probably because i had an amazing european history teacher who really emphasized reading primary sources and critical writing. either way--this sudden fascination i have with military history & tactical stuff came out of nowhere lmfao. xD
ALSO HELL YEAH @ THE LAUNCHING PAD--i bought and devoured sloan's book thanks to your previous posts. ;D well worth the money! <3 i marked it up with like seven thousand sticky notes haha.
have you read sledge's with the old breed? there's a ton in there. :D

It really is sad that so many have passed before any of us have had a chance to see interviews/talk to them, though Burgie and Sid are still kicking around (and you get to see a ton of Sid and his sister Cathy in Ken Burns' The War docu). It's one of the reasons why there is such a scramble to collect as much testimony as possbile before the Vets/Survivors/Everyone who went through WWII die.
