Alas, no copy of the e-book, but I know the formatting on these is a little wonky and some people might prefer my typed up notes in the word document versions.

You are very welcome, and well, *waves* historian. It's sort of what I do when I've been away from academia for too long and need to keep up with my citations.

There's so much that the mini-series didn't show (understandable, of course) but it kills me when I'm sitting over here going, "People, you don't know just how awesome they really were!"

Oh bb, I'm studying ancient history so I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND I have been on holiday for 3 weeks and I feel rusty already.

SERIOUSLY. Every day I'm learning something new and amazing about these guys and it blows my mind how little the pacific was really able to show.

I have been out for over one year, but since no one is hiring historians right now I'm all. "Hmm, let's see about a second Master's!"

And what part of Ancient History? I was a Classicist until they were all, "You must learn Greek" and I went, "You know, I think I like Mussolini a bit more than Aristotle."

It really is not sad, but, like you said mind-blowing how little the pacific was able to show in the final product. We could have used those 15 extra mins, boys!

One thing I appreciate about Sloan's book is that he explains just how some of those nicknames came about. Haldane's is badass, Snafu's is actually pretty damn funny.
