And thus marks the end of modern civilization.
Look, my main gripe about this, and the article, is that while Shakespeare's plays may have changed to fit the audience of the time, the language in full form has always been most important. And not just the language, but the speaking and performing of it. Sure, you can read Hamlet and The Temptest

Also, I love Designing Women and Julia was always my favorite. That's a shame about her passing. And ,yes, that speech of her's is one of my favorites. Thanks for posting it, Shannon. its been forever since I had seen it.

Well, the times are a changing - it's like how in Japan you have novels written on cell phones and at least one of which have won an award. It is The RSC and as times change I guess they are just trying to make things more accessible to new audiences in new formats and I guess they hope that that will translate back to the classics themselves. I don't think Shakespeare will never be not relevant. Ever.
I understand where you're coming from as you now have kids in school using internet slang in essay writing which is definite decay (to me at least. Could be language evolution to some) but this just shows culturally where we are. I really get the need for and the importance of Twitter and knowing and updating what you're doing or what thought passes through your head every minute but *shrug*
You really should try A Game of Thrones and Kim Harrison *poke*

See, the one reason I don't get twitter outside of like, marketing value, is the fact that I really don't want to know what people are doing every min. of every day. I don't care how famous or not famous you are, I really don't need 5 tweets of what you made for dinner and what you're drinking now and your random shot 5000 of the lizard in the parking lot.
I have tried so many times to read A Game of Thrones and it is just not happening right now. I'm not pulled in, I can't get past the first 5 pages, and I'm generally not in the mood for High Fantasy at the moment. I'm hoping that will change b/c I do want to read it. I'm still on the fence about the Kim Harrison books, I've heard good and bad ( ... )
