In which I share in the Obama love

That...was pretty damn awesome. You know, I can't remember the last time so many people were this excited to see a new President go into office. Whether it was because Busy is finally gone or because President Obama is now in office, or a combo of the two, I don't know and honestly, it doesn't matter. This day was def. one that will go down in ( Read more... )

Took me all day for the reality to sink in...

My fav. part of the speech was when he mentioned some of the hardships that were overcome that made one an American. Not in spite of them.

You summed it up pretty well. I just love the Obamas as a family. It was a kickass day ^_^

I remarked to my boss the other day how good and yet odd it is to hear the words, "President Obama."

I love that part of the speech too. It's realistic and it acknowledges real history, not a rose-colored view.

I adore the whole Obama family, even Michelle's mom. How cool is that, to have a mother-in-law in the White House?

It is amazing how one person in one country represents the hope of the whole world. But it would be naive not to accept the role of the USA in the world. I hope that all that power won't change him much and that the big forces behind the governments will let him do his job. There is a saying here "whenever you hear of many cherries, hold a small basket", but let's hope that he'll do some of the things he promised. Still it is a great day for your country so enjoy it with all your heart!

Take care,
Nima

Hi Nima,
I honestly cannot remember the last time so many people in this country felt so good about something, and considering the economic mess we are in (it hasn't been this bad for the USA since the 1980s), that alone is a feat.

Obama's already made good on some of his promises, such as the bill signing into law the closing of Gitmo, so there's some hope that he will mostly practice what he preached.

They showed the reactions of various countries around the world to Obama being sworn in and it was just so moving, to see such an outpouring of good will and emotion, that I couldn't help but cry. Good tears, though.

::hugs::

And how are things with you?
