The Amazon reviews are divided -- some think it's a travesty. Humor is a very fragile thing, and somewhat risky to recommend.
I read rachelcaine's LJ; after some thought, I chose to review the book as I'd review another published book, because it's out there (and I saw the second one in the bookstore on Friday, too!).
It doesn't surprise me that the TWoP recappers are Princetonians, though I might also have guessed that they were refugees from the Harvard Lampoon.
I hope you like the next Robinson you try; it took me a while to get into him, but I think he's one of the most interesting and ambitious writers out there.
My favorite of his work is his atypical fantasy novella "A Short Sharp Shock," the Mars trilogy, and the Three Californias trilogy. The last offers three AUs centered around the same characters, one post-holocaust, one capitalist dystopia, and one eco-utopia. The utopia doesn't quite work, but I admire him for attempting it. It's so much easier to write about what goes wrong.

rachelcaine is among us.
I first heard about "eating clubs" last year, when the TWoP recappers were discussing it from their past. Who knew?
