politics and prose

I went to two John Kerry events Wednesday night, forcing postponement of SV/Angel watching. Now, the only reason my picture isn't in the dictionary defining "shy" is that I'm too shy to be photographed, so this required serious fortitude in the face of multiple strangers in close quarters. Turns out I could have gone to the sit-down dinner, but ( Read more... )

When is the US' election? I'm from Canada and would be interested to know. The new SV Angel eppy's I don't get to see till Monday, because my cable says "Hey you must suffer and wait, ha ha ha !" Evil Cable.

I've heard of that Smallville Book and it would be quite interesting read, only wish the show would be more like the book now huh? One can only dream.

It's in November, so there's plenty of time for more politics. I liked the Angel, though reactions seem somewhat divided.

I was looking to see if you'd written any fics with Dick Grayson in them, and found this. Wrong Grayson, but still interesting.

I like stories, comics, books, movies, etc, when they're written by people who actually like the characters. It makes a difference, even in the villains.

I read Bryson's book, a long time ago. The "fuck you/get fucked" as an insult is probably because of misogyny-a man getting told that would be pissed because he was being compared to a woman; and a woman would be told that's all she's good for. That attitude is at the root of similar insults, like calling a guy a son of a bitch.

I have to admit, I'm extremely light on non-Bruce Wayne Batman canon: I've read the occasional book with a Robin in it, but I have not followed any of them specifically. Basically, bringing a kid into Batman's life is too messed up even for me!

But Nightwing, tho! \0/

I don't read the comics, but I know enough of the basics to follow fics, and that's good enough for me. I get irate when the comic book writers-who get paid to do this-have less respect for the characters they write about than the fans do.
