We went to see The Black Pirate tonight. Douglas Fairbanks was quite charming, though the stylized acting of silent films doesn't generally appeal to me. I do love so many silent films. It helps to see them projected at the proper speed. At the time, they cranked fewer frames per second, so the action is not the jerky hyper image we're used to seeing. I've been to festivals where re-prints give an idea of what it originally looked like.
And there's nothing like seeing these films with live music.
