I find the social structures in Elizabeth Moon's stories mindboggling, but they don't stop me from wanting Heris/Cecelia at all.

The cover of this shows a woman on horseback, in jodhpurs and riding hat, looking up at a spaceship and some big moons. So that’s what you get: horses (too many, in my opinion; I never could stand horses)

Finally, someone who agrees with me on the horse issue. :)

It feels to me like horses are deemed to be a surefire strategy to get female readers: oh, let's add a few more horses and we'll sell a million more books!

Just finished the book and thought I'd see what other people had to say. Your comment ". . . only about self-correction of corruption." took me by surprise. I thought it was just a good story, but maybe that's why.

I just left the last comment. I expected my name to be attached but it wasn't. Hmmph. But now we've got word verification? That's weird.

Regarding horses. On one hand it's really schmaltzy, on the other Ms. Moon makes it sound completely believable.
