I agree wholeheartedly with minim_calibre, but I also came to the conclusion that whatever helped me get through the cleanup was the right answer to the philosophical question.
Must say that I enjoyed my contribution to the affair far more whenever miirica-kid did the spit up routine on someone I disliked or was peeved with.
Just wait for the first big kid barf, or pray rivkid has an iron constitution. It's good we're built to love them.
Speaking of love, I read the exerpt from "Skunk Cabbage" before I really tracked that it was Mary Oliver. I love, love, love Mary Oliver (not that it should make a difference to you that a complete stranger loves her poetry). What I appreciate most is that ability to cut deep with the gentlest phrasing. I don't know the content of Blue Iris, but there was some stuff in Why I Wake Early that was beautifully brutal. I sat and cried at the coffee shop one morning while I devoured the whole darn book. I've been going back and slowly digesting again over the last few months.

Still totally liquid and boob temperature? Yours.
Curdled? His.
(That's my rule of thumb, at least.)

Cheers, though, because if you have a nursing infant and are still managing to have philosophical questions, you're doing remarkably well. :))
