OK, I already know that The Dead Zone is the best show you're not watching. But hearken, my friends, and I will give you another reason to watch the show: Cesca is writing Johnny/Walt slash (she provides useful pictures if you're unfamiliar) and it is good. Buddy slash, with extra Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick triangle-y goodness where they bond over ( Read more... )

yo, I like The Dead Zone, too.

Some of them have been just awesome, but I drift away when some are just okay.

In general, DZ episodes are at least pretty enough to keep my interest -- I love the special effects, and I like the mix of people who believe Johnny and who disbelieve. I thought the S3 finale pair of visions (in the bakery and in the other store) were just stunning, and I'm looking forward to more on the Stillson plot.

I was blown away by the one where we discovered that Johnny was the mysterious stranger who had helped him drag himself out of the car wreck.
Major cool.

Then of course, the one where the crazy murderous chicks were in that abandoned house was good, where Johnny was duct taped to a chair and the loony chick wanted to have his baby. heehee

The Collector sounds a lot like another tv show called Brimstone. I think the Devil in the latter is played by the same actor who plays Lionel in SV.

I didn't like Brimstone all that much, though John Glover was great as the Devil. The Collector is a bit less predictable, both as to the "clients" who are sometimes good and sometimes bad and as to the resolutions, which are not strongly correlated with whether the clients are good or bad. Brimstone also didn't last long enough to do anything interesting with the formula, which might have made me like it more, whereas The Collector has already started experimenting in neat ways.

The problem is that though it is popular in Canada, I couldn't find any bittorrent sites to download The Collector from. *sighs*

I apparently found it during the week all the episodes were available. Neither torrentspy nor isohunt are helpful now. I want DVDs!

The Dead Zone is an excellent show, but Season 3 isn't out on DVD yet. That'll happen on June 6th.

Well, yes. But Anthony Michael Hall actually has a dry humorous delivery he uses during the show for moments like that. It works for him. As Cesca pointed out to me, the show's not afraid to be funny -- though her coma jokes are the best.

Sedgwicky goodness is such a great recommendation, I would have to read this even if I didn't already read Ces's work on general principle.
