Glasses are bloody expensive in this country. I just paid $475 for an exam and new lenses.

Yep. And they used to take weeks to deliver.

Have you checked to see if work will pay anything towards it? My work pays for a yearly checkup and a couple of hundred towards the glasses.

As mentioned above, drop a line to your OSH nazis and see if there's a health and safety subsidy for glasses. I know there was one at MFAT.

ouch... and i need new lenses soon... and eye exam.. and i was considering those polorid? darken in the sunshine lesnes...

I have strongly considered it, even though I would prefer to be able to try things on. I needed the exam in any case, and I needed to replace the scratched lenses in my current glasses. I will definitely be looking there for a replacement pair.

Government agencies usually get a much better deal than we get in local government, in terms of subsidies for eye exams + glasses, and ours are still fairly good. I suspect you will have had to talk to them first then go to an approved supplier though.
