I have a feeling I'm gonna like that prince. He seems smart, intelligent enough to hide how smart he is most of the time, and just enough of a bastard to do things that are necessary without emo-ing about them, but not too much of a bastard, so we can still like him. I don't know aout the last one, though. It's difficult to tell when we just met the man.
Poor Kastor, though. He's not having a very good day, what with the hallucinations and bleeding and dying thing, and if that's not enough, yet ANOTHER person is calling him an exiled prince and he has to correct them yet AGAIN... heh.
DOESN'T GET FACE EATEN BY SEAGULLS?! Aaaawwwwwhh! D: ...I'd say it's lucky that he got rescued and is now receiving medical attention. (Or is it luck? Can there ever really be luck when gods have taken a personal interest in your life?)
FEMALE-DOMINATED SOCIETY, YAY! *high-five!*
I reeeeaaallly like this Prince! Spoiled little rich boy, but so sharp and sharp-eyed and clever and curious and smart. Like Batman! :D I am excited to see more of him.
I also really liked the doctor, how she kept forgetting to use the honorific. Like, OKAY, YOU'RE A PRINCE, WHATEVER, I'M TRYING TO SAVE THIS GUY'S LIFE, DON'T GET IN THE WAY. <3 doctors.
Yep, the Fioradines are fairly female-dominated, especially where seafaring is concerned. There are male sailors, but the officers are usually women. Their sea goddess likes it that way. :D
Aaaaaahhh, ahaha, yes, I see! I like it! I did notice the reference to "Mother Sea" there. ...I had a similar thought for my big original universe (which I should sit down and write one of these days, fffff), where the most important deity is a female, a mother figure, and for this reason the clergy is almost entirely female, because women have a closer bond to the mother goddess and the rest of the pantheon.
Oh well that was a treat! Yes, I also liked the prince. A lot more than I was expecting to when you described his absurd clothes - was that an intentional attempt to make the reader think he was a foppish dandy?

Anyway, it's great that you're writing again.
