As Sophie walked down the street, no one gave her a second glance. Her thick tresses were a rat’s nest. Her eyes held wearniness and sorrow. Clothed in a baggy grey dress and dusty shoes, she stopped in front of a towering skyscraper. The afternoon sun sparkled off the windows. A guard moved toward her, “Hey lady. Move along. Nothing to see here.”
“Just enjoying the sun,” in a raspy voice.
“Go somewhere else.”
With a sigh, she wandered down the street. “Got that, Hardison?”
“Yes, Sophie. You were great.”

In the penthouse, Sophie changed for the job. She styled her hair into a braid around her crown and made her eyes sparkle with powder. She opened the garment bag and took out her dress, kimono-style covered in pale leaves. She added ballet slippers. The final touch was silver hoop earrings and a thick silver links necklace. “What do you think Hardison?”
“A wonderful transformation. Shall we?” He held out his hand which she took as they headed for the door.
