Scary Lady. It reminds me of some of the off-the-wall detective stories you get from British crime writers. Ruth Rendell, or P D James. Mind you, Patricia Highsmith would love it too. And I do remember reading one that was stangely similar - I think it was called The Member of the Jury ...
