Tech advice requested

Has anyone heard of / used LogMeIn.com?  Tired of listening to me complain about my old laptop, the IT person at work offered me a cheaper solution.  I would get a new desktop at work.  When I'm at home, I would use LogMeIn.com on my personal computer to access it.  The positive side of this is that I'd be able to use the one software program that

Our IT department does not allow us to connect to our business network unless we're using company provided equipment.

OTOH, I frequently use the work laptop to connect to a machine in the office using RDC or VNC to remote control it.

The laptop doesn't have to run tools well, just remote control software.
