There were things he could figure out, and things he couldn't. Like why he should wake up in the barracks on the other side - because that's where this was, right?

And with the waking up part. That was getting fucking annoying. He wondered how it looked on the other side. He'd been with Alice, hadn't he? So had he what, just vanished in front of her?

He ran his hands through his hair as he made his way through the barracks. He'd admit it; he was searching for familiar people. He'd scented a few behind closed doors, though none he was really close to. Wasn't that a laugh though; how many was he really close to in DauphinMare?

His hands were shoved into his pockets and he glanced up as someone stepped out into the hall. She wasn't familiar by sight or scent, which meant she was new enough that she hadn't been part of Riverfell when they'd invaded ... but how new was she? "Morning," he greeted her politely.

Tracey blinked at the man, boy really, when he spoke. He was pale, deathly so, and his accent was flat, an American then. She frowned and looked at him. "Morning." She repeated before stopping. She hated asking people questions. It was weakness to let people know that she didn't know something, but here, she didn't really have a choice, did she?

"Where is this place? Do you know?" Her voice was sharp, clipped, hiding just how off put and how damn confused she was, frightened even, though she wouldn't admit that to anyone, not even herself.

The projection wasn't completely conscious, but he didn't feel like dealing with snippy people - so he projected calm at her, to hopefully make her relax. Granted, there had been some people his particular skill hadn't worked on - mostly the ones that weren't strictly and completely human - but she seemed like a likely candidate.

"This would be Riverfell. You're currently trapped inside a bubble, fighting a war that you shouldn't be part of and undoubtedly didn't sign up for."

He thought about getting into what was on the other side, and how today Riverfell apparently had at least a few DauphinMare residents, but thought better of it. Until he knew what she could do, he saw no reason to share that they weren't on the same side.

Tracey blinked, running a hand through her hair. Perhaps she was being too hard on him. After all, how was she supposed to get information out of him if she were always snapping at him. She looked over at him, frowning. That didn't sound remotely like her.

"That doesn't make any sense." Her finger went to her wand, but she didn't draw it. She looked around again, not understanding any part of this. "What do you mean, a war? How can I be in a bubble?"

It was as though he was speaking a foreign language, and that was incredibly frustrating. Still, she wasn't going to snap at the only person she'd seen. Information was more important than making enemies.
