The Midas is a short-range ship: bulky, heavy-browed, dingy outside and in. It sacrifices fuel efficiency for the power to haul lots of cargo through atmo and space alike; it'd run out of fuel before it got too far into the black, but it's plenty for short runs between Aberdeen and its surrounding moons. Fortunately for those involved in this ambush, the Wolflord of the andain is not much constrained by the usual laws of physics.

He is, however, moderately constrained by his knowledge of the Midas's layout, which means that he and his cargo, such as she is, emerge from flickering shadow in the cargo bay, just to the left of a small land-transport mule.

Galadan would attempt to keep from staggering, but he's been in and out of Milliways multiple times in a very short span.

That, and he did some prying into mortal brains that were not made for such mind contact as he is capable.

Even the fading remnants of a splitting headache require a moment of extra concentration to begin to ignore.

At least he stays silent during this brief chance to regroup.

River was already standing close; it takes physical contact for Galadan to bring someone across worlds with him. She plants her feet as they appear, dropping Galadan's hand to slip her arm around his waist and catch his weight as he staggers against her.

Voices echo down the cargo bay stairs, indistinct and jocular, but no one's in here with them. The room is silent but for the quiet breathing of the two new arrivals.

After another moment to regather his somewhat scattered wits, Galadan raises one eyebrow and tilts his head toward the stairs leading up to one set of cargo bay doors.

Choose a method of egress, if you would.

There's no sense in giving himself another headache while trying to suss out the location of perfectly normal humans.

River cocks her head slightly, listening. Not only to the voices.

After a moment, she flicks a glance at Galadan, and starts with careful, silent steps towards the stairs.

He can choose his own way, based on what River knows and River intends.
