It's hot here. In the past few weeks, we've had the most sustained period of consistently hot and sunny weather that I can remember for years. Apart from the two hellish hours per day I spend travelling to and from work on the cattle-truck-esque tube, I am really enjoying all the sunshine and warmth. It makes everything feel optimistic and hopeful ( Read more... )

Doing what you're doing is the kind of thing I have always dreamed about doing. But I'm a big chicken and am so afraid of taking chances. Of course, now that I'm married and settled with so much stuff and pets and everything, it doesn't seem even remotely feasible anymore. That and living across the Atlantic makes the whole moving to France thing bigger and scarier ( ... )

Thank you Dani. I will indeed endeavour to keep posting and thus remain in the loop-y. And tell me - how do you say shit-head in French? Is it tete-de-merde or something?

We decided that they probably say tete de merde in france, but Chris prefers just to say merde tete, even if it isn't proper. lol.

I bought a book a short while ago called The Complete Merde, full of all sorts of phrases and stuff like that. It's amusing and informative, if not quite useful.

I would never do something like that, so I think it's very brave and brilliant of you. I hope it's everything you want it to be, and may you at least have loads of fun! Like Dani said, let us know you're still around every now and then. I don't speak to you much these days, but I do think of you occasionally and when I do I'd like to know what part of the world you're residing in. :)

Do you know, the other night I spent at least an hour reading back loads of your journal entries from the past three/four years, because I had been puzzling over your most recent posts in so far as I had no idea who any of the people you were talking about were, and whether you had had kids or what. Think I have worked it all out now, just about. Have got got married? (Not that it's important, I just wondered). Anywway, you say that you would never do something like I am doing, yet it seems you have moved to a totally new town and started a whole new life, etc. I loved reading back all your posts, and catching up with whats been going on in Mandyland. Hope all is good with you :-)
