Sixty or so years ago, Michielborg was a booming town -- not glamorous, and not exactly prosperous, but full of workers and equipment extracting nickel and copper from its deep mines. Even forty years ago, when the ore deposits were mostly played out and the company mostly gone, there were still some stubborn folk scratching out a living here.

That hasn't been true for twenty-five or thirty years, though. There are plenty of other mining towns scattered around St. Albans, but Michielborg's a ghost town now, full of abandoned buildings and not much else.

This, of course, makes it the perfect hiding spot for a group of outlaws who don't mind laying low and shipping in all their supplies.

From above, the area that was once Michielborg's ore processing district is a haphazard cluster of unidentifiable grey-drab blocks. It started out a warren, but it's been built on since, and now there's no telling how the buildings connect and where the inhabited parts are.

Unless, of course, you happen to have done your research, and gotten some inside information. (However reluctantly it came.)
