HOW'S MY DRIVING?
Information Post
Alright, here is our information post for our monthly How's My Driving? meme, otherwise known as a HMD Meme. They will be posted once every other month, within a few days of the end of the week after the Activity Check. This means to expect every How's My Driving? post between the 1st to the 7th, depending on the Moderator who runs the HMDs' schedule!
You may be wondering: What is a How's My Driving? meme? In case you don't know, it is a Meme where you post who your character(s) are, and people can reply to you and give you constructive criticism on your character(s), or praise on what you are doing right. So if you think someone is playing their character a little off and you think they need just a tiny bit of guidance, then this is your chance to let them know kindly what you think they could be doing to portray their character better.
Our How's My Driving? meme's will work a little like a few others. Because of HMD memes in the past, we have decided to change how they work, due to the fact that people found they were not getting any criticism, but were rather just getting complete praise. So in response to this, we've decided to adapt our HMD meme to two parts: Praise and Criticism.
• Praise → In order to post to this part, you MUST post to the Criticism post. To encourage this, Praise posts will be locked for 24 hours after being posted. This is the post where you tell a person you think they are doing a good job. But don't just say, "Yeah, good job." Tell them why you think so; what did that character do to make you think that? It just sounds better.
• Critisism → Once you post to this thread, You may post to the Praise thread once it's opened. This is where you give criticism -- but Constructively. I, nor the mods, want to see stuff putting them down. We will Freeze, Screen, and/or Delete every comment like this that we see, once we've shown it to the other mods personally, so just don't do it. People don't comment to HMD meme's to feel like crap and be put down. Chances are, they're truly trying at their character, and they want help getting better. Please respect that, and be polite and keep in mind how you are sounding in your criticism. If you're being nice, someone is more likely to take you seriously than if you're being a jerk. So just be cool. Again, tell people why you think what you do. Don't comment someone, please, just to say "I have no crit against you; you're perfect." That doesn't fit in Praise or Criticism because you aren't giving reasons as to why you think so, and it's not Criticism to begin with. So please keep all this in mind when commenting in the Criticism thread, as it is the most important and easiest to upset people.
With all that in mind, we'd like to point out a few guidelines for this type of HMD meme:
• Please try to keep it so that for each post to Praise that you make, you post to someone in the criticism, too. It sucks when all you get is praise, which is why we started to do this, now.
• If you see someone with no comments in Criticism, and you know their canon and character, be cool and give them some criticism, even something small. It really sucks when you comment to a HMD meme and get nothing.
• Try not to circle jerk. The word Because is important; don't just gush over everyone you love. Use BECAUSE. It just sounds better, and lets them know what you think they have down pat.
• As of March 3rd, 2010, WE ARE GIVING PLAYERS THE OPTION TO ALLOW ANONYMOUS COMMENTS. IP addresses are logged. If we catch this being abused, we will banhammer the offender like no one has been banhammered ever before. Don't be a jerk. If someone says that they do not want anonymous crit, RESPECT THEIR WISHES. Anonymous crit is ONLY ALLOWED for those who agree.
Just keep this stuff in mind, and if you have any questions or suggestions, go ahead and comment here!
