Cloud felt like he was running in circles. He'd been to the beach before, twice already, but he'd also been to every other part of this restricting island more times than that. He went over the same things again and again, hoping maybe the next time he would find either what he was searching for, or a way to move to the next world. Needless to say, Cloud was having no such luck ( ... )

Zidane yawned again, somewhat annoyed that his previously perfect view of the beach was now interrupted by some guy with an oversized sword. He could've been a guard - not that Zidane had seen any yet - but he was more likely to be another of the outsiders, especially with an appearance like that.

And, surprise surprise, he was looking straight at Zidane. He had a feeling he knew what was on the other's mind, but grinned and asked anyway. "Do I have something on my face?"

"..." Cloud had never been much of a social person, and often did things on his own. He wasn't much of a talker either, but as much as he disliked admitting it, he was having some trouble finding any information without interacting with others.

"The people here just all look different." He offered, Zidane's tail being the foremost thing on his mind as he worded the sentence, trying not too look entirely unsure of his surroundings.

"What did you expect? We're all from different worlds," Zidane shrugged, unpeturbed by the other's stoic appearance. He seemed like Asch's unsociable type. Zidane could deal with that. Tail flicking behind him as if hiding out of sight, he continued, "Wouldn't it be more weird if we all looked the same?"

What Cloud said had definitely got Zidane thinking, even if he didn't say it aloud. The closest things to gods, in his world, were eidolons. But even they were at the beck and call of the summoners, or they could be captured and controlled by... other means. Maybe this was the same type of magic, except this time it was the god summoning them and not the other way around. It was a wild theory, and one he doubted even applied here where summoning didn't even work, but it was still interesting to think over. And incredibly frustrating at the same time: it served to remind him he still didn't know anything about this Rivelata place ( ... )

The blond's environment was always changing so he was naturally paying attention to his surroundings; so he had picked up on someone else approaching quickly. His blue eyes glanced to the man for a second, not expecting him to be a threat (everyone here seemed oddly tame).

He couldn't help but wonder if this man was having any more luck at finding out what was going on and how to leave than he was.

Cloud glanced back at Zidane when he introduced himself, offering a simple "Cloud Strife." as a response.

Leaving his back wide open to a stranger with a huge sword was possibly not the brightest idea, but Zidane didn't really care, too enraptured with watching the waves. He didn't get to see the sea all that often, or when he did, he never had a chance to enjoy it. He was always travelling and had to be somewhere, doing something, and it was strange to have such an unhurried lifestyle now.

"So then, Cloud," he said, deciding to divert the conversation onto less serious matters, "Where are you from?"
