Just being out in the sun made the fair-skinned innovator nauseous. He tossed the vendor a few coins and went on his way with a small sack of groceries. He'd been hibernating, somehow, for several months and he was rather hungry, but Tieria had far too much dignity to eat on the go. He'd make himself something substantial once he got home ( ... )

He'd been inspecting some of the shops in the marketplace. It just felt very... odd seeing shops that sold fresh produce when he was used to walking into shops that sold food. It was hardly a bad thing, however, but it did also mean he had a hard time deciding what he wanted to eat. It wasn't like he needed to cook back home. But when he turned his head, Joshua couldn't help but spot a rather familiar grumpy face he'd last seen in his journal, carrying what Joshua assumed to contain whatever the guy had bought.
Grinning at the glare being shot his way, Joshua immediately made his way over to him. "I see the hermit has decided to come out today! Was it to enjoy the fresh air?"

Ed stifles a yawn with a gloved right hand before he rests his cheek against the hard metal, staring down at the thick book in front of him. He's lost track how long he's been there, but he can tell from the dimming light outside that Al is about to show up anytime to probably tell him it's time to go home. (Back to the Al's Zoo of Cats.)He lifts the book again so it's standing up, pushed ( ... )

Buuuuut as he passes by a shelf, Joshua can't help but notice the momentary gleam of metal from someone else in the library. While that in itself isn't so unusual (there's always someone wearing some kind of metal accessory), something about the guy makes him seem rather... botherable. And what better way to learn the more historic and scientific aspects of this world than from a bookworm?
Approaching with a history book dangling from his fingers, Joshua makes no effort to hide the fact he was craning his neck to see what the blonde was reading. With a hint of teasing and a smirk, he says, "Keep reading like that, and you'll end up needing more than just glasses."

It was always good to help them out and she did believe in doing good deeds for strangers in the hopes of fostering better relations with those not originally from the Island like herself. Molly sat by the fountain and looked around herself. Would there be anyone to help today?

Sitting down beside her, Joshua flashed the woman a winning smile. "Howdy." The people here seemed well used to odd folk coming in from strange lands, so Joshua continued lightly, "I do hope you don't mind talking to a stranger to these lands. You seem like a friendly face."

"Do you have a place to stay and get something to eat yet?"

"A generous soul has provided shelter, but I'm afraid her generosity doesn't extend to food." Joshua gave a great sigh, shaking his head, "And here I was, hoping my vacation here was an all expenses paid trip."

Hotsuma handed over a wrapped-up statuette of Kojiro Sasaki, the legendary swordsman famous for wielding a nodachi he called 'The Drying Pole'. His latest customer, a boy of eight, grinned from ear to ear and marched off with his hard-earned prize. The ninja knew for a fact it was hard-earned; he'd seen the same lad pulling double-duty on various delivery runs around the Market. Everytime such a run took him past the Nest, he'd never fail to give the prominently displayed figurine a longing hungry stare. As if burning into his mind that it would indeed be his someday.
Truly, there was nothing sweeter than a reward following toil and sacrifice. And it was nothing short of satisfying to the ninja that he was the instrument of that reward.
With the midmorning wave of customers taken care of, Hotsuma took up a broom and began to sweep. He did his best not to remember Presea or Rangiku, who'd been employees here at one time or other.

But as he passed by one of the shops, he couldn't help but notice the paper lanterns and kites. Pausing in the street, he watched the customers entering and leaving the shop, but not with lanterns or kites, but something smaller and wrapped. Drawing closer in interest, Joshua saw that the shop also sold figurines. Swordsmen and serpentine dragons, made in remarkable detail.
His attention well and truly caught, Joshua approached the man, a thoughtful look on his face before turning to face the man properly. "I wasn't expecting to see reminders of the homeland in Rivelata." Joshua didn't see any other workers around -- though they could be at the back -- so he asked with a smile, "Did you make these?"

Broom and dustpan vanished. Then the ninja followed the youth's eyes to the shelves, whence porcelain swordsmen fought for their lives against stone dragons. "Every single one.", he affirmed. "I'm not sure if I enjoy crafting them more than I enjoy sharing them." For a price of course. A man had to make a living after all.

He only had to watch the expression on his artist friend's face as putter around his shop and painted the murals in his home city to understand that. Without asking, Joshua reached for one of the dragon figurines, intending to let his hands feel their weight and finish.
Joshua took a chance and made a guess. "How long have you been here in Rivelata?"

He had barely settled into what felt like a comfortable skin back in Berk, and he wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing the same here, yet.
Regardless, he stepped into Carrie's house, shutting the door to the kitchen shut behind him and dropping a bag next to the door as he approached the table, apparently seeking out an orange.

Joshua closed his journal with an audible snap. "Somehow, when Carrie mentioned there was a viking living here," he began as a greeting, before turning his head to look at the other occupant properly. He smirked, continuing, "I was expecting someone who looked like they throw a table with one hand. I'm almost disappointed."

He lifted one scrawny arm and flexed, wiggling his fingers a little bit.
"I mean, you'd be surprised. I've been known to, uh, heft chairs in my time. I'm guessing you're Joshua?"

"You've got it in one." Joshua grinned, leaning an elbow on the tabletop. "And I suppose you'd be Hiccup." Loosely curling a hand under his chin, he openly looked Hiccup up and down before he grinned. "I was under the impression vikings gave their children names that would strike fear into the hearts of their enemies."
