WHO: Hiccup (hiccuphaddock) + open! WHAT: Hiccup's arrival to Rivelata. WHERE: On the coast, near the city. WHEN: A few hours after arriving in the city.
[Carrie sits on one of the rocks near where sand fades off into land, and she HAD been frowning thoughtfully at the sea. But then all of the sudden there was something a little more interesting around, and now she's peering with a good deal of curiosity at Hiccup instead.
[Hiccup whirls to face the voice, nearly overbalances, and straightens up again at the last moment. He's thinking the same thing about her clothes-- veeeery impractical.]
[Hm. He's not far off from the beach still, just out in the jungled area, prowling and keeping to himself because gods. There are way too many strange people on this island.
And it's not even so much that he hears anything, mind you. But when Hiccup tosses that sand, and it blows back in his face..? The wind is blow his scent all the way across the island, no matter how far and thinned out it gets.
And he smells it and and-- It's not the saddle or prosthetic fin he's caught scent of. It's the real deal. Has to be.
So he bounds off, ears up, eyes wide as all else. And when he gets to the beach-- he's still not used to that weird, slippery sand yet-- Toothless is stumbling over himself and causing quite the mess of sand. In the air. A lot of it. Oops.]
[Hiccup's head perks up as the - 'What in the world is that? A sandstorm?' - cloud of sand approaches, stumbling back a few feet and pressing his hand to the tiny dagger at his hip.
Not that he's sure he could actually stab anything, but it reassures him a little, at least.
Eventually, though, he spies flashes of black scales and bright eyes through the mess of sand and relaxes immediately, looking suddenly relieved.]
[The dragon of course gets his footing within a few moments, unsticking his tail from where it had gotten tangled with his legs. And proceeds to shrill and chitter and quite happily bound his way closer to the scrawny Viking.
He'd miiiiiissed him. Really. Gotten here almost two weeks earlier, with no Hiccup in sight, and all these people wanting to touch and talk to him? They smelled clean. It was so weird.]
YAY I am here and around now I swear we are awesome.hiccuphaddockMay 13 2010, 21:24:34 UTC
[Hiccup perks up again at the sounds of the trills and chitters from the dragon, and despite the fact that he is a stranger in a strange land, he laughs out loud and stumbles toward the scrambling Night Fury.
Immediately, he has his arm draped around the dragon's neck, bumbing his fingers against the flat, broad area of his nose and scratching him like anyone else might lavish attention on a favorite cat he or she hasn't seen in months.]
Toothless. You're here, too. Are you hurt? Have you seen anyone else from Berk?

Well. It's better than nothing.

[Another round of interested observation -- is that a metal foot? Metal feet and animal furs. Neat.]
'Least if you're doing nothing, you're less likely to call over something hungry.

Most of the time.]
Let me guess: giant, man-eating monsters?
[He glances back at Carrie, aaaand while his voice is a nice little deadpan, his face is almost worried.]
Where am I?
