Ah. There he was.
Roy felt like picking a fight, and Marcus was easy bait. No Rangiku to stop them, or Rogue for that matter - which meant they'd need a drink afterward besides. This was one of those situations where he didn't really examine what he meant to do to the other man very hard, and just went with whatever felt right. It's fine, Ollie would say. Our hearts are pure.
And with that pure-hearted sentiment, what felt right to Roy was taking advantage of the man's distraction to aim a thwap upside his hard head.
The cheap shot accomplished two main things: 1. It stopped Marcus from crying. 2. It made him really pissed off at Roy again. Other than that, it made him stumble for an instant and hurt for a moment, but then he was ready, glaring right at the man who seemed so bent on ruining his day even more than it already had been. Fine, he'd do his best to ruin Roy's right back.
He started this by aiming a machine-enhanced punch at the man's torso. He knew from the last fight that he'd never land a blow to the head, but hopefully Roy wasn't fast enough to dodge everything. Marcus guessed Harper would probably land at least twice as many blows as he did, but Marcus also guessed he was at least twice as strong as this man. That, and he hoped he could take more of a beating.
Missions accomplished. Roy met that tearful glare with an annoyed, flat stare that said louder than words: Cut the bullshit. They were not here to get all mushy.
He didn't avoid the blow, just moved with it and fell back. Whoof, little more than he was expecting. He lashed out a foot to catch Marcus behind the knee as he went down, bounced off the ground palm-flat like this was a round of capoiera.
"Nice to see you too." His next kick whipped around towards the gut.
Mushy time was over, now all Marcus wanted to do was hurt the man in front of him. He would have preferred a more solid hit to start off with, but a graze was better than what he did last time.
The kick to the knee, however, was not something he wanted. Just as it was intended for, Marcus fell to one knee. He saw Roy spring right back up. He was once again reminded why he had lost so badly last time. Despite being stronger, Roy had a lot more skill and was much faster. As evidenced by Roy now getting off two kicks before Marcus could even react.
Luckily the second kick was aimed at his gut. He let it hit him. It hurt like hell, but it allowed him to collapse on the leg and get a solid grip.
"Yeah, it's been too long." Marcus stood quickly, lifting and turning his body, intending to throw Harper at the closest wall.
((OOC: Amanda was hoping she could have War thread jack into this at some point. Is that alright with you, or do you just want it to be the boys?))
Well THAT was something else. Roy flung one hand into the ground and deflected enough momentum to not damage anything vital when he smacked into the wall. He landed catlike on his feet, ears ringing, shook his head and grinned. Wouldn't make that mistake again.
God... even getting hurled through the air doesn't slow the guy down? Marcus had thought for an instant he might actually have an advantage. Guess he should have known better.
"Do you ever stop talking?"
Marcus tried to press whatever small advantage he thought he had gotten and charged forward, throwing another punch at Roy.
Not much, dude, but this boy does have a day job fighting megalomaniacs and giant gorillas.
"Not often." he responded with a smirk, at this point just enjoying the rush. Nothing like a good brawl to get you back on track. And the least he could do was return the favor, really, so he jerked aside at the last second and let Marcus charge the wall. He slammed back into the other man shoulderfirst, ready to take this close-quarter. "Have to shoot me for that."
Even if War hadn't been interacting over the journals with Marcus at just about the same time Roy had thrown the gauntlet, she kept tabs on her favorite boys - meaning, of course, that she kept her eye out for any and all opportunities to get them into trouble, either with each other or with someone else.
Of course, as it turned out, they'd gone and gotten started without her, but it didn't seem like they'd managed to do any real damage. Not yet, at least.
But perhaps she could change that.
"I'd rather prefer that didn't happen," she called out, rather conversationally - as if she hadn't just walked right up to the fringes of a raging street brawl.
