WHO: Van Hohenheim, Alphonse Elric WHAT: A reunion of father and son, but not really what either of them expected. WHERE: The docks WHEN: The evening of Hohenheim's arrival.
[That's a tone Al knows well - almost too well - and he feels a little pang of regret. He doesn't have it in him to hold grudges (even though he probably should, in a case like this), and he slows a little, looking over his shoulder.]
Rivelata, it's...it's not so bad. It has it's moments, I suppose, but...the Offworlders look after each other, for the most part - and some of the natives help out, too.
[He smiles, and it's a little more natural this time.]
You'll find lots of people to help you out, I think. And if you ever need anything, I'd be happy to do what I can.
[Hohenheim returns the smile, swallowing all the questions he still wants to ask, like just how Ed had gotten his body back so quickly, if Al knows what happened to Pride, if Eds body has been restored, if he's happy here...typical worrywart father stuff. Instead, he asks a much simpler pair of questions.]
I am sure I'll get by here, if you say it's not too bad. But...how long have you been living here, Alphonse? Is there really...no way back?
No, not that anyone has been able to find. Although...people do disappear and reappear sometimes, often without any warning. It seems...rather arbitrary.
[He shrugs.]
I've been here...nearly two years now? Something like that, I think.
