The teacher sat in the parlor, the little pup wriggling on his lap, a huge red bow tied about its collar. It was preoccupied with chewing on the trails of his hakama's sleeves, but Nozomu patiently pulled out mouthfuls of wet fabric so the eager puppy wouldn't choke.
It has been in the market, romping in a little pen with its littermates. If it took a silver coil to make his death god smile again, he would use it.
When hearing the voice, the pup began to eagerly bark at its source, giving their location away.
Grell bit back a squeal of delight when he entered the parlour and saw the excited puppy trying to escape Nozomu's tight hold. "OH!" The redhead exclaimed, rushing forward. "Oh aren't you absolutely darling?!"
The Reaper clambered onto the seat and pulled both Nozomu and his precious bundle into his arms. "I have a little Knox this time!"
Nozomu couldn't help but smile when he got tugged into the Reaper's enthusiastic grip. He shifted the wriggling pup into Grell's hands, and it began to lick his face with fervor, knocking his glasses right off.
"I saw him in the market and knew he could use a friend, and you could use a companion."
"Careful now, Ronnie!" Grell laughed as he tried to escape the pup's insistent licking. "You're just a little bundle of energy aren't you?"
The redhead turned his attention to Nozomu, smiling gratefully. "Thank you, Nozomu. He's just what I needed right now." A softer smile as he leaned forward and bumped their noses together. "I hope he didn't cause you too much trouble?"
"William doesn't seem impressed though." He giggled, looking over his shoulder at the lithe cat watching them from the staircase. Bright gold eyes remained unblinking as though calculating the situation. Or so Grell assumed, because the cat was so aloof just like its namesake.
"He'll just have to get used to our new baby." Grell poked his tongue out at the cat before wriggling down to lay his head on Nozomu's lap. Playfully he tugged the puppy's tail. "This one is going to cause all sorts of trouble!"
"We'll need to make sure the house is puppy-proof." He thought a moment, "Angelina's door should just stay locked. So many fragile things in there.
The dog was soon exhausted from all the excitement, and whined, cuddling up in Grell's arms to sleep. Nozomu leaned forward tentatively, brushing hair from Grell's face. This was the closest they had physically been in some time.
"We'll have to teach him how to go up and down the stairs so he doesn't hurt himself." Grell pondered aloud, before cooing softly as he coaxed the pup to nap. "I'm sure she'd forgive him in a heartbeat even if he did break something of hers. Who could say no to this face, hm?"
Closing his eyes, he leaned into the touch. "Oh dear." He breathed. "I've been neglecting you again, haven't I?"
An indulgent smile crossed his lips before it made way for a soft chuckle. Soft leather gloved fingers combed through his jet black hair. "I am as fickle as you mortals and I say so unashamedly." A shrug. "This is who I am; I cannot and will not change."
"When a mortal says to another 'I will love you forever' they mean within a century." Grell watched the pair; the human in his arms and the puppy napping soundly. "I cannot love you forever because you do not have that long. Love for an immortal must be fleeting."
"I'll stray because I cannot remain still." The Reaper whispered. "That does not mean I don't want this- it just means I need to alleviate my restlessness so I can return to you."

"Not at all. I love dogs."
He lowered the dog to cuddle to his chest, bent a bit low, and carefully, carefully, ever so carefully...
Bit the tip of his fuzzy ear lightly.

Nozomu was all silks, slippery and soft to hold, interesting against the velvet-soft coat of fur that Knox had."I just-" he began nervously.
"I just want to be sure this is what you want."
